Main Article Content
Abstract
The development of technological advances has brought changes to the world of education. Digital learning media make students more active in using sophisticated technology to support learning activities. Easy access to used cell phones or smart phone, makes students more flexible in accessing the materials they need. Sociology learning teaches students the importance of humans as social creatures who work together in social life. Therefore, students need collaboration skills to support the development of personal skills. The appropriate method to use is problem-based learning. Collaboration skills can be supported by interactive multimedia as a learning tool. Interactive multimedia presents various interactive features in text, images, and videos. However, schools do not have adequate learning facilities to support the improvement of students’ collaboration skills in terms of technology. This type of research is qualitative descriptive research. The focus of the research was 36 students in class X of a high school. Data collection methods include questionnaires and interviews. The analysis goes through four stages: data collection, data reduction, drawing initial data conclusions, and presenting the research results. The research results show the need for interactive multimedia in sociology learning to improve collaboration skills. Specifically, 86.1% of students have never carried out collaborative activities in sociology learning using interactive multimedia. Additionally, 97.2% of students need interactive multimedia to study sociology material. Finally, 88.9% of students use technology for learning. Thus, the use of interactive multimedia is needed to improve students’ collaboration skills in sociology learning.
